The Legacy of Bruce Randolph—Keep A Light in Your Window

The broadcast premiere of the Daddy Bruce documentary “Keep a Light in Your Window” will air on Rocky Mountain PBS on Thursday, November 19, 2020 at 8 pm, with additional airings during the month.

Bruce Randolph, like Jesus, had a mission—to feed five thousand people. As a result of this vision and commitment, during the Thanksgiving season, he changed the way Denver feeds families. Affectionately known as Daddy Bruce, he was born in 1900, however, it is not until he is 63 that he opens his restaurant in Denver.

Using his own money and time for years he financially supported this cause until he required outside assistance which came from sources like local celebrities and members of the Denver Broncos. Daddy Bruce died in 1994, but his legacy lives on. Over 560,000 individuals have received meals from the Epworth Foundation. This will be the 56th year of service.

In November 2017, then Governor of Colorado John W. Hickenlooper proclaimed “Colorado Feed a Family Month” in honor of Daddy Bruce Randolph.

This year’s Daddy Bruce Thanksgiving distribution theme is Imagine No More Hunger. The goal is to feed 10,000 families on Saturday, November 21, 2020. The foundation doubled its commitment from last year due to the devastating effects of the pandemic. This weekend, volunteers are still needed to help deliver no-contact food boxes.
