Testigos / Witnesses is our powerful, timely photography exhibit that presents larger-than-life portraits of the indigenous Otomi community in Mexico that creates traditional amate paper, on which the portraits are printed, and which was once banned by the Spanish for its close association with indigenous culture and empowerment.
Born out of a friendship that developed between Gaal and Otomi artisan Genaro Fuentes Trejo, Testigos / Witnesses is about Life, Death, Culture and Time. Gaal brings his full artistic power to this exhibition, weaving together photography and thanatology into a stunningly wise and compassionate presentation that engages the soul as much as it does the eyes.
This exhibition is brought to you in collaboration with our friends at the Mexican Cultural Center and closes March 20th. This is your last chance to catch Testigos / Witnesses!
