Celebrating Collaborations
April is Jazz Appreciation Month, founded in April of 2001 as an annual event that pays tribute to jazz, both a historic and living American art form. This year we will celebrate the contributions made by those musicians who created memorable collaborations. There have been many great collaborations among musicians.
Here are some of my favorites. Les McCann and Eddie Harris ‘Compared to What’ is the ultimate, in the moment, unrehearsed collaboration from 1969 Montreux Jazz Festival. Another collaboration that I’ve really enjoyed is ‘La Gitana’ featuring Eddie Palmieri on piano and John Scofield on guitar, featured on the Grammy Award winning album ‘Listen Here.’ I know many of you have your favorite collaborations as well. We would love to hear from you. Send us an email: studio@kuvo.org. Thank you for staying with us and staying safe.
