An underground phenomenon since the dawn of the new millennium, the Krantz-Carlock-Lefebvre Trio is an iconic genre-bending powerhouse led by visionary guitarist Wayne Krantz. Holding down a legendary Thursday night residency at NYC’s 55 Bar throughout the 2000s, the trio developed an original style of powerful group improvisation rooted in heavy funk, rock, and electronica.

Now, for the first time in nearly ten years, the relentlessly grooving and ceaselessly innovative KCL Trio reignites to present an incendiary live music experience at Dazzle at Baur’s. two sets on Friday, February 7 at 6:30 and 9 pm.

That thrill – the sound of three musicians both in synch and unafraid to challenge one another – is captured with gripping immediacy on Krantz Carlock Lefebvre, an album that handily defies categorization. Indeed, Krantz has long abandoned concepts of genre and style, as his path has become more personal, more searching. “It doesn’t bother me to evoke the blues or jazz or rock with my playing. These idioms have fallen into common domain now; nobody owns them, they belong to everyone,” he says. “But it does bother me to hear myself playing with the voice of another specific individual. It interferes with my search for the truth, which is basically what I’m about with this thing of music.”
