On any given night with the Patrick Lee Trio, you’ll find them chasing the spirit of the hard swinging ’50s & ’60s classic piano trios: chaining together tunes by Dave Brubeck, Ahmad Jamal, and Oscar Peterson alongside a string of their own daring originals. The demand for Lee’s music has led to independent radio play from Santa Barbara (KCSB 91.9) to Tokyo (Radio Forest 76.3) as well as a featured artist segment on NPR’s Here & Now. Lee is a Colorado native, a graduate of CU’s jazz department, and teaches piano at Metropolitan State in Denver. He has also released over 30 albums of music influenced by sampling culture, cassettes, records, collages, field recordings, hip-hop, and electronic music.
