New releases from (mostly) female bandleaders
Tune in on Monday at noon for the St. Patrick’s Day edition of New Music Monday. KUVO Music Director Arturo Gómez will preview the latest releases. This week, in honor of Women’s History Month, New Music Monday is made up of mostly female bandleaders.
- Trombonist/Vocalist Natalie Cressman’s new one is “Turn the Sea.”
- The veteran soprano saxophonist Jane Ira Bloom returns with “Sixteen Sunsets.”
- From our neighbor to the north, Canada, flautist Julie Husband and her quartet offer us “Bach to Bolling and Beyond.”
- For vocalist Rebecca Dumaine’s sophomore session, she teams up with the Dave Miller Trio, “Better Than Anything.”
- Pianist Rossano Sportiello’s trio features Nicki Parrot on bass and vocals, “It’s a Good Day” is their new 2014 album.
