Our final New Music Monday for March is headlined by pianist David Hazeltine leading his quartet live at the Smoke Jazz Club in NYC. “For All We Know” features saxophonist Seamus Blake. David mixes the selections well with his own compositions and his own versions of well known songs.
The GRAMMY® nominee trombonist-composer-arranger Pete McGuinness‘ new one for 2014 is by his Jazz Orchestra, “Strength in Numbers”. Mark Patterson, part of Denver’s own Convergence ensemble plays trombone .
Brazilian legend, singer-songwriter-guitarist Caetano Veloso releases “Abraçaço” (multiple embraces), his first in several years.
Philadelphia pianist David Bennett Thomas is equally at home playing classical or jazz. His latest “Headspace”, has the talented Joel Frahm as guest saxophonist, augmenting the trio.
Vocalist and educator Janice Borla gives the songs of Bill Evans, Bob Mintzer, Leonard Bernstein, Jack DeJohnette and others her unique style for her latest, “Promises to Burn.”
