This week on the Vinyl Vault, we’ll hear the 1982 album “Echoes of an Era.” The album features a lineup of first class players including Chick Corea, Freddie Hubbard, Joe Henderson, Stanley Clarke and Lenny White. And on vocals…Chaka Khan in her first foray into jazz.

The album consists of jazz standards like “All of Me,” “Take the A Train,” “I Loves You Porgy,” “Spring Can Really Hang You Up the Most” and more. The band worked to achieve a classic jazz sound from the ‘50s by recording live and using no more than two takes per tune. See how Chaka Kahn handles jazz and keeps up with these players on the Vinyl Vault, Tuesday night at 8:30 p.m. on The NIght Beat on KUVO, 89.3 FM, kuvo.org.
