Eats & Beats: Balistreri Vineyards, fresh for ’14!
interview with Julie Balistreri
North Denver’s winery Balistreri Vineyards hosts the 9th Annual KUVO signature event, the New Orleans Rhythm Revue on Saturday, August 9. Julie Balistreri thinks it’s a great opportunity to introduce people to their vintage labels, made from Colorado grapes!
“You’ll be able to taste over 15 different wines at the KUVO event,” said Julie. Again in 2014, there will be some special “jazz label” wines, named for the featured performers Donald Harrison Jr., Henry Butler, Leo Nocentelli, and Sarah Vaughan. “A Sangiovese, a Merlot, a Cabernet Sauvignon and a Syrah. My dad John, the winemaker, will select specific barrels for those labels.”
New executive chef at the Balistreri Vineyards event center is Chris Teigland, who’s excited to contribute a new Cajun shrimp dish to the New Orleans-themed event. Balistreri always lays out a variety of gourmet cheeses that pair well with that wine.
