The Vinyl Vault this week will feature a posthumous Duke Ellington release, “Up in Duke’s Workshop.” Recorded in 1969, 1970, 1971 and 1972, the album was not released until 1979 on the Pablo label. The album features Ellington and his band working out tunes that were later rerecorded as well as revisiting some old favorites. It’s Ellington that you normally don’t hear on KUVO because this one’s not in the KUVO library. Hear it on the Vinyl Vault with Geoff Anderson this Tuesday, August 14 at 8:30 on KUVO Jazz.
