“A Dream Deferred” by Oliver Nelson captures various sessions from in the 1960s and 70s featuring Nelson’s own compositions and arrangements of Duke Ellington’s. Nelson was a reed man, but he won wide acclaim as a composer, arranger, and conductor for TV networks. “A Dream Deferred” is a double LP on Flying Dutchman Records in the Jazz/Funk/Soul vein from 1976, with some outstanding accompanists, including Johnny Hodges, Earl “Fatha” Hines, Shelly Manne, Count Basie and many more!
