Detroit based Dave McMurray’s 2018 Blue Note album “Music is Life” is brimming with power, fluent melodicism and tons of swagger. McMurray plays tenor and soprano saxes with funky, bluesy, swinging mastery on all 12 tracks. McMurray’s immersion in the rich musical heritage of the Motor City echoes in every note he plays.

Mr. McMurray has recorded with Blue Note president and longtime Detroit friend, Don Was, in the popular band Was (Not Was). He has also worked with B. B. King, Bob Dylan, the Rolling Stones, Herbie Hancock and Bob James. He’ll be bringing his trio to Dazzle for three sets over 2 nights. You won’t want to miss his amazing original “Freedom Ain’t Free” and his standout version of the White Stripes “Seven Nation Army.”
