CU Boulder Thompson Latin Jazz Ensemble LIVE on KUVO channels
KUVO’s High School and Collegiate Series presents the CU Boulder Thompson Latin Jazz Ensemble on KUVO channels (on the air, stream, app, YouTube, Twitch), released on Tuesday, November 5 at 7 p.m.
The Thompson Latin Jazz Ensemble studies music from the Caribbean and South America and its integration and ties with jazz. Traditional and contemporary forms of Latin music are surveyed, including Afro-jazz, Afro-Cuban, danzón, salsa, calypso, and cha-cha-chá — as well as Brazilian forms, such as samba and baião.
The 18-piece CU Latin Jazz Ensemble is under the direction of Victor Mestas and Alejandro Castaño. Members of the Ensemble are:
Saxes: Raleigh Eversole, Camden Johnson, Cian Krueger, Jack Rueschhoff, Jonas Shofler.
Trombones: Kyle Nakaji, Jack Dunning, Abby Burford, Melvin Casillas-Muñoz.
Trumpets: Graeme Appel, Keegan Arnsmeier, Avi Bergman, Kaden Blake.
Bass: Daniel Kaminski.
Drums: Nathan Burak, Tomás Loya.
Vibes, piano, percussion: Daniel Trujillo.
Piano: Victor Mestas.
