KUVO JAZZ and THE DROP Hosts Step Up as Celebrity Crossing Guards

We’re passionate about building community both on and off the airwaves. On Wednesday, October 9, we were excited to participate once again in National Walk, Bike, and Roll to School Day, marking the second year our organization has joined this important initiative. KUVO JAZZ host, Tree King of Mid-morning Jazz, and La Molly, Super Sonido, stepped up as “Celebrity Crossing Guards” to help ensure the safety of Columbine Elementary and Manual Middle School students on their way to learn. Maleman, the host of THE DROP’s Maleman Show, also joined the effort with students from his alma mater, Montbello High School. National Walk, Bike, and Roll to School Day is an annual event aimed at promoting safety, health, and the benefits of walking for students. Dressed in bright safety vests and armed with stop signs, Tree King, La Molly, and Maleman, each known for their deep connection with Denver’s music and culture scene, were enthusiastic about extending their support to this event for the second year in a row.

“Being out here, seeing the excitement of the kids, and knowing that we’re playing a role in keeping them safe on their way to learn—it’s an awesome feeling,” said Tree King.

La Molly added, “The best part of being a community radio station is being out in the community! Stepping away from the mic and getting to laugh and smile with the kids was the best way to start the day!”

Maleman, who joined from THE DROP, brought his signature energy to the day and said, “I’m honored to connect with our youth and be a part of their journey to greatness.”

KUVO JAZZ and THE DROP are proud to stand by local schools and organizations to help create safer, more connected communities. Thank you to all the students, parents, and volunteers who participated in this year’s National Walk, Bike, and Roll to School Day. We’re looking forward to more opportunities to support our neighborhoods in the future!
