Live & Local: Jazzmeia Horn in Denver for two nights

Multi-award-winning Jazz vocalist Jazzmeia Horn is a trailblazer in the world of composition and arrangement. Born in Dallas TX, Jazzmeia carries with her the early lessons at the piano with her grandmother Harriet Horn as she continues to build a legacy for herself. Jazzmeia Horn is the recipient of the 2013 Sarah Vaughan International Jazz Vocal Competition and the 2015 Thelonious Monk Institute International Jazz Competition. Shortly after, she was signed by Concord Records and in 2017, released her debut album, A Social Call, which was nominated for a Grammy Award.

Her most recent album released in 2021, a Big Band Album called “Dear Love” by Jazzmeia Horn and Her Noble Force made history as the first time that a female vocalist composed, arranged, and fronted a big band album in its entirety. It is an album of encouragement through poetry and spoken word addressing the aspects of her community, her love, and herself. This album was the final push that inspired Jazzmeia Horn to start her own label, Empress Legacy Records.

Lately, Jazzmeia Horn has been busy putting the finishing touches on her next trio album named “Messages.” This album is made up of mostly originals, will feature notable trumpeter Marquis Hill, and is set to be released on October 25, 2024, on her own label.

Jazzmeia Horn returns to Denver for two nights at Dazzle, Thursday 09/19, and Friday 09/20.
