The Night Beat — The Art of the Jazz Trombone

According to the International Trombone Association (ITA), International Trombone Week is officially April 7 through 14 2024. But they go on to say “…every other day in April and surrounding weeks count, too!”

In that spirit (and since The Night Beat show is once a week), we’re going to play lots of stellar recordings by some of the very best trombonists in the history of jazz. Among the trombonists, we’ll feature Jack Teagarden, Lawrence Brown, Tricky Sam Nanton, J.J. Johnson, Bob Brookmeyer, Curtis Fuller, Steve Davis, Wycliffe Gordon, Steve Turre, Conrad Herwig, and many, many others.

Be sure to tune in every Wednesday in April beginning at 8 p.m. for what I’m calling “The Art of the Jazz Trombone” as we celebrate International Trombone Week Month on The Night Beat.
