Denver-born Blues veteran Sammy Mayfield started playing the blues early in the 1960s. Known for his gravelly voice, this multi-talented guitarist/ singer/ songwriter has performed with great blues luminaries such as Big Joe Turner and Big Mama Thorton. Mayfield hosts his Saturday afternoon KUVO Jazz show, “All Blues With Sammy Mayfield.” He has gigged all over the world and made a name for himself during a three-decade stint as the musical director for the legendary soul and gospel shouter Solomon Burke. Sammy Mayfield IS a true musical legend.
