2019 Neal Cassady Birthday Bash | Feb 8 & 9

The 10th Annual Neal Cassady Birthday Bash will feature events at both the Mercury Café and the Alamo Drafthouse in Denver.

On Friday, February 8, the David Amram Quartet and Jello Biafra will headline the annual Bash featuring music, poetry, and reminiscences celebrating the life of Neal Cassady, starting at 8 pm, upstairs at the Mercury Café located at 2199 California Street.

On Saturday, February 9 from 4-6 pm, the Alamo Drafthouse/Sloan’s Lake will host speakers, poetry, and panel discussions celebrating Neal Cassady, Denver, and the West. And, at 7 pm the Alamo Drafthouse Cinema will screen the documentary “Neal Cassady the Denver Years,” followed by a discussion with the film’s director, Heather Dalton.

In addition, Denver Mayor Michael Hancock citing Cassady’s “Unique outlook, philosophy and worldview-shaped by his Denver upbringing,” has proclaimed February 8th as “Neal Cassady Day.”
