Cancer: Emperor of Maladies - local hope (part 1)

The community gathered recently at Rocky Mountain PBS studios for an advance screening of the new Ken Burns-produced documentary series Cancer - Emperor of All Maladies.

Rocky Mountain PBS hosted a preview screening of Ken Burns-produced film,  “Cancer: The Emperor of All Maladies,” a three part documentary based on the book by Siddhartha Mukherjee, airing March 30-April 1, 2015. At the event, Steve Chavis from the KUVO morning show "First Take with Lando and Chavis" captured a few local stories of hope.

Eats & Beats: Bonanno's "Chef Driven" on Rocky Mountain PBS

In light of his new television series, "Chef Driven," chef  and restaurant owner Frank Bonanno visited "First Take with Lando and Chavis" to talk about public TV and food artistry.

"I really wanted to showcase what Denver has to offer,” said Bonanno. “...We are as good a beer town and wine town as any city the country.” This Saturday at 1:30 p.m. on Rocky Mountain PBS, the next episode of "Chef Driven" covers  soul food in Denver (Feb. 21). Previous episodes have focused on beer, burgers, and bread.

The making of Sand Creek Massacre documentary

One hundred fifty years ago this November 29, the Sand Creek Massacre occurred in the southeast corner of the Colorado Territory.  At first, settlers in Denver cheered the returning Colorado Volunteers.  Then details of the slain women, children and elderly men emerged.  The infamy of the events that day reverberate to this day.  Rocky Mountain PBS producer Mariel Rodriguez-McGill visited "First Take with Lando and Chavis" to describe a new one-hour television documentary, airing Thursday, Nov. 27, 2014 at 7:00 p.m.
