Clare Church Fundraiser

Denver saxophonist Clare Church has been playing professionally for 30 years. Her first gig was with Tony Bennett, and since that memorable night, she has worked with the bands of Joe Henderson, Dizzy Gillespie, Benny Carter, Nancy Wilson, Mel Torme, and George Shearing, among others, as well as being a regular with the Colorado Symphony and the Boulder Philharmonic. She is also a member of Art Lande’s inimitable Boy/Girl Band, the Lewis/Church Quintet, the Colorado Sax Quartet, the Baker/Mulligan Tribute Band, and is co-leader of the modern jazz group, Polarity.

Metro State Jazz Ensemble tonight at 7

Tonight at 7pm, it's the High School / Collegiate Series. At 7pm, host Geoff Anderson welcomes the Metro State University of Denver Jazz Ensemble under the direction of Ron Miles. to KUVO's Phyllis A Greer Performance Studio.

Tune in or come in for a chance to hear some of Colorado's most promising young improvisers. The concert will feature classic compositions and contemporary works.

The Working Musician as on-Air Host

KUVO/KVJZ is fortunate to have several volunteer on-air hosts who make their living as professional musicians.   These performers worked years developing a music product suitable to the tastes of demanding listeners. The performer’s peers are demanding of even higher standards, a level of respect to be met if the musician is to work in collaboration with these peers. The performing artist must learn to recognize quality in their own work; and,staying abreast of the innovative work of others enables the musician to identify the changes occurring in the larger art collective.

Janine Santana

Soft as Granite, Janine's first release as a leader. Her second is in the works.

Janine Santana, a Latin Jazz percussionist, has been performing and broadcasting music on the Colorado Front Range for twenty years, after having been raised in the locales Brooklyn, New York, and Trenton, New Jersey. In the East she developed skills as a theater actor, but in the Denver area she has been concentrating on music recording and broadcasting.
