A blend of music, news and community-oriented programming, tuning in to First Take is the right way to start your day. Lando's "Stories of Standards" feature examines a jazz standard or a tune from the Great American Songbook each week. Stories of composers, lyricists, performers, and songs. Denver's culture plan "Imagine 2020" Still Taking Input

  It's been 25 years since Denver released a cultural development plan. Now city officials are closing in on the final steps of a new plan, called Imagine 2020. As KUVO's Carrie Saldo reports, there's still time for feedback on what the public imagines the city's artistic scene will look like in years to come. Starz Denver Film Fest: Gene Kelly The Legacy

Among the special events at the 2013 Starz Denver Film Festival was Tuesday night's appearance of Patricia Ward Kelly, Gene Kelly's widow and keeper of the dancer/director/choreographer's flame.  He was a forerunner, said Mrs. Kelly, whom he hired as his biographer, then married in 1990.

US Schools Resegregating; New Responses Considered

America's schools are resegregating, but the old assumptions from 50 years ago don't apply any more. That's according to University of Wisconsin sociologist Jeremy Fiel. His study, "Decomposing School Desegregation," was just published in the American Sociological Review.  The story was also picked up in The Atlantic magazine.
