March CD of the Month

Mar 21, 2014

Our March selection is one of great pride for us, Javon Jackson was raised in Denver and maintains strong family connections to the Front Range. For over 20 years he’s been a globetrotting musician, both as an esteemed sideman and as a band leader.  Furthermore, Mr. Jackson is a respected educator currently holding the chair at the prestigious Jackie McLean Institute of Jazz at The University of Hartford's Hartt School.

For over 20 years Catherine Russell toured the world as a backup singer for some of the most prominent names in music;

The most recent release by Bobby Watson is an inspired tribute to the theme that inspired it. Bobby Watson and the "I Have a Dream Project", Check Cashing Day,  honors the 50th anniversary of the March on Washington and the Reverend Dr. Martin Luther King Junior’s I Have a Dream speech.

Brian Lynch  "Unsung Heroes: Volume 2"  Hollistic Music WorksFor the first time in the 12 year history of KUVO’s CD of the Month Club we chose a sequel to a previous CD of the Month selection, Unsung Heroes: A Tribute To Some Underappreciated Trumpet Masters-Volume 2 by educator and modern trumpet master, the Grammy® Award winning  Brian Lynch. This superb recording is on Brian’s own Hollistic Music Works label.
