Trent Brotherton of Walter’s Pizzeria shared the recipe for the restaurants new pie, the Blue B.O.M.B.

Re-create it at home using your favorite pizza dough recipe or pre-made crust. Top the pie with marinara sauce, mozzarella, blue cheese crumbles, fresh basil, caramelized onions, homemade meatballs and bacon – and you’ve got yourself a Blue B.O.M.B.!

Carolyn Joy of Joy Wine & Spirits paired the pizza with Funkwerks Imperial Saison Ale, an American take on a classic Belgian style with an 8.0% abv and Rakau hops imparting a distinctly tropical note.

Joy said, “The beer works perfectly with the richness of the meatball pizza by cutting through the fat, cleaning the palate and matching the richness of the dish.”

“While there are many strategies, tips, and recommendations for beer pairing the most important thing to remember is to have fun and drink what you want. Also, when in doubt, go Belgian! The beers made there are extremely food friendly and have good appeal across a broad spectrum of beer drinkers,” said Joy.

Tune in the third Thursday of every month at 6:35 PM as Carolyn Joy of Joy Wine and Spirits teams up with a local chef to provide a divine wine and food pairing!
