Neal Cassady's Birthday Bash (and more!)

Feb 6, 2014

Guitarist Peter Bernstein kicks off the week in music on Thursday when he hits town to hook up with the Convergence sextet at Dazzle, 930 Lincoln, at 7 and 9 p.m. Born in New York, Bernstein found a potent mentor in the great Jim Hall. Before long, alto saxophonist Lou Donaldson added Bernstein to his group; and, over the years, the fluent guitarist, who was born in 1967, worked with a host of strong players, while producing a string of discs under his own name.

February is Full of Music - Provizer's Jazz Notes

Provizer's Jazz Notes, 1-30-14

While February remains short on days, that month this year is very long when it comes to music. So, before we get to this week’s events, here are some items to keep in mind to plan out your calendar for the coming three weeks. On February 6-7, guitarist Peter Bernstein comes to town to perform with Convergence at Dazzle. On February 7 you can get on the road with David Amram at the Neal birthday bash at the Mercury Café. Then on February 8, it’s crossover saxophonist Gerald Albright at the Soiled Dove Underground.

While Dianne Reeves spends much of the time on tour across the globe, the majestic singer rarely performs back home in Denver. On Saturday, you can catch one of those rare performances at Boettcher Hall in the Denver Performing Arts Center when Reeves hooks up with the Colorado Symphony Orchestra at 7:30 p.m.
