Canción Mexicana will be even more special this Sunday! New Mexico Music. From 1840s folk music to the Golden Age of Cinema in Mexico and today’s hits!

Infused into our great Sunday program of Tejano, New Mexico and Colorado music we will have a special focus on New Mexico.

During our first hour, La Epoca Dorada, we’ll select one of Jose Alfredo Jimenez’ hits and listen to how they were interpreted by musical artists of Northern New Mexico and Southern Colorado. Great folk artists from New Mexico and Colorado, including Cipriano Vigil, Roberto Mondragon, Lorenzo Trujillo and others will also be featured playing songs that tell the tell the story of New Mexico’s musical past.

We’ll also hear a special segment of Cancion Mexicana’s newest series “Nuestras Tradiciones Culturales.” We will feature the segment, “La Marcha de los Novios”, created by Yolanda Ortega, Dr. Lorenzo Trujillo and Dee Burleson.

Our Canción Mexicana program will continue until 1:00 pm with Tejano, New Mexico and Colorado musicians interpreting old standards (great music never gets old) as well as playing great new releases from today’s top musicians.

Join me for this Sunday’s Musical Feast! The only thing we’ll be missing are the biscochitos y bunuelos!
