It's Hispanic Heritage Month, and our friends at 9News recognized the music contribution that KUVO brings to our community every week...especially on Sunday mornings with Canción Mexicana! Watch the Story!

Vocalist, composer, arranger and visual artist, Carmen Lundy returns to Mount Vernon on Wednesday, October 8th.  Lundy grew up in Miami, Florida where she attended the University of Miami as an Opera major. She quickly found her talent in Jazz and earned degrees in Studio Music and Jazz Performance. She has written more than 60 compositions and has performed with many greats in the business including  Kenny Barron, Ray Barretto, Bruce Hornsby and Bobby Watson.

This weeks composition on KUVO’s “Stories of Standards” series comes from the iconic 1959 Miles Davis Davis LP Kind of Blue.  The song “All Blues” only ranks #248 at www.JazzStandards.com, but it is beloved and much recorded.  Oscar Brown, Jr. added lyrics.  We’ve got at least 15 versions to share with you this week on “First Take with Lando and Chavis.” First Take airs weekday mornings at 6am to 9am.
