2018 JJA Jazz Awards winners

May 10, 2018

Congratulations are in order to the winners of the 22nd annual Jazz Journalists Association Jazz Awards.   The Jazz Journalists Association (a non-profit organization dedicated to promoting the best use of media of all kinds --new and old, online and off-- to tell the story of jazz and develop new jazz audiences) announced the winners of their jazz awards this week, winners included Kurt Elling, Jazzmeia Horn, and NEA Jazz Master Benny Golson.

“Come rain or come shine,” 83-year-old tenor saxophonist Houston Person still delivers a sound that covers the listener with warmth and soul. That’s the lesson contained in the saxophonist’s newest disc on HighNote Records appropriately titled Rain or Shine.
