Two live performances on International Jazz Day

Wednesday, April 30 is International Jazz Day. At KUVO, we'll be airing 2 live performances from the Phyllis A Greer Performance Studio.

At 5pm, the Rich Chiaraluce Quintet  Rich Chiaraluce - alto sax; Al Hood - trumpet; Dave Hanson - piano; Ken Walker - bass; Todd Reid - drums   Rich is a highly respected sideman and educator in town.  Most of his band comes from the Jazz faculty at DU's Lamont School of Music (except for Todd, who teaches at CU-Denver).

Jon Wirtz's NuSkool - not your parents jazz

On Thursday, April 24 at 7pm, Jon Wirtz's NuSkool performs live from the Phyllis A Greer Performance Studio. The band is Jon Wirtz - piano & keyboards; Tyson Ailshie - bass; Daniel Hogans - drums.  Jon Wirtz is an Ohio-raised, Denver-based player who has led a number of projects and has appeared with many groups. Inspired by the masters of the past as well as the innovators of the present, Nuskool is shaped by elaborate original compositions, pocket grooves, and forward thinking mentality.

  At KUVO, we are celebrating Jazz Appreciation Month with live music!

Tune in on Wednesday, April 23 at 5pm for trumpeter Tom Gershwin, as he explores the broad range of classic jazz in his duo project. Featuring guitarist Perry Smith, the duo performs intimate ballads, jovial swing tunes, and bebop.
