Hunger Free Colorado

School's out for summer, and now it falls to parents to manage the daily detail of feeding the kids.  Since 2009, nutrition advocacy group Hunger Free Colorado has coordinated a statewide network of sites to distribute nutritious meals for children up through age 18.  Michelle Ray, director of Communications for Hunger Free Colorado, visited "First Take with Lando and Chavis" to talk about their statewide summer feeding program.

The weekend before Thanksgiving is a big one for the non-profits that feed hungry people. Typically, this is when many of the food pantries put together and distribute baskets for families in need.

Alexxa Gagner with the Denver Rescue Mission said their annual turkey drive also provides birds to other charities. Frozen turkeys 12 pounds and larger are being accepted at the main location at Park Ave. and Lawrence in downtown Denver.
