Art Scene: Megan Mitchell ceramics at Plinth

Jun 3, 2016

This month we welcome Megan Mitchell to Denver with her exhibition of ceramics "Border Drawings," through July at the wonderful Plinth Gallery (3520 Brighton Blvd., Denver, CO 80216).

"I discovered that all these exciting things going on in ceramics are about a lot more than throwing pots," said Mitchell.  She describes the nuances of gas-fired kilns and wood-fired kilns in the audio.

Art Scene: Crossing cultures in Denver

KUVO's visual arts consultant Hilary DePolo booked the guest on her monthly feature "Art Scene"  far in advance of this week's nuclear weapons treaty announcement with Iran.  Her guest, Eric Dallimore of Leon Gallery (1112 E 17th Ave., Uptown) is opening an exhibit of Iranian-American artists called Continental Divide: East of L.A./West of Tehran.

Visual arts are a great tool to foster the idea of individuality, "no matter what color they are, or what their garb is," said DePolo.

The Denver Woman's Press Club holds their annual jewelry sale this weekend at their Capitol Hill house at 1325 Logan, "a jewel among parking lots," says club member, poet and KUVO arts consultant Hilary DePolo.

"We have been able, with the growth of the jewelry sale,  to increase the amount of our scholarships and the number of our scholarships," said DePolo.  "We support young women who are studying journalism and creative writing."
