Eats & Beats: Walter's Pizzeria

Colorado-style pizza has LOTS of produce, big chunks, and flavors to match.  One of our faves is Walter's Pizzeria, with  locations in Uptown Denver and Bow Mar-Littleton.   And general manager Trent "Big Fizz" Brotherton visited "First Take with Lando and Chavis" with Walter's pizza contribution to KUVO's signature fundraising event Live at the Vineyards.

In this interview Big Fizz explains for the record, "who is Walter?"  He also describes the four gourmet pizzas they have planned for the Aug. 9 event at Balistreri Vineyards.

Eats & Beats: Willow Creek at KUVO Balistreri fundraiser

Chefs love the annual summertime gourmet feast in North Denver known as "Live at the Vineyards."  Participating again in the delectable, musical feast is Willow Creek Restaurant of Evergreen, Colo.  Owners Curtis and Kristopher Lincoln visited "First Take with Lando and Chavis" with a few goodies.

"The food is certainly part of our passion, but Willow Creek is an outstanding environment that really exemplifies Colorado," said Curtis, referring to their idyllic location overlooking Evergreen Lake .

Live at the Vineyards: Jax Fish House chef Sheila

Jax Fish House and Oyster Bar has been a part of KUVO's signature  fundraising event "Live at the Vineyards" for several years.  Executive chef Sheila Lucero visited "First Take with Lando and Chavis"  with the story of Jax and a preview of their contribution to the feast at Balistreri Vineyards on August 9!

The 2014 wine tasting and gourmet feast  is built around the musical theme "a New Orleans Rhythm Revue," which calls for New Orleans flavor!

Ruperts at the Edge; still serving breakfast

From their cozy location right across Sheridan from Sloan's Lake, the new Rupert's At The Edge restaurant is balancing the innovations of new ownership with the solid breakfast fare so many people are used to.  

Owners Susan Olsen and Tim Nevadomski offered a radio tour to KUVO's "First Take with Lando and Chavis" audience.   They owned a food truck in South Dakota before they found the opportunity to buy a successful, working restaurant.

Five Points Farmers Mkt opens at Juneteenth in new locataion

The Five Points Farmers Market opens this Saturday during the Juneteenth Music Festival.  Beverly Grant from MoBetta Green Marketplace visited "First Take with Lando and Chavis" to announce the 2014 location for the market, Sonny Lawson Plaza, at 24th and Welton.

When Grant says it features fresh, organic produce,  she means really fresh.  "It will be picked the day before," said Grant.  "We've got an abundance of flavor and nutrient value.  My goal is to work with a handful of local farms to bring our neighborhood the best food I can find."
