Colorado Hall of Fame induction concert honoring "Jazz Masters & Beyond" features performances from some members of the induction class —jazz vocalist Dianne Reeves, classical bassist Charles Burrell, guitarist Bill Frisell , trumpeter Ron Miles, Philip Bailey, Andrew Woolfolk and Larry Dunn of Earth, Wind and Fire.

East High School will receive a special non-performer award for their long history of musical graduates.

Happy Birthday Charlie! Charles Burrell has enjoyed an outstanding career as a bassist for the Denver Symphony Orchestra and is also considered a master jazz bassist; one of the first African-American classical musicians in the nation. Born in Toledo, Ohio, in 1920, Burrell was raised in Depression-era Detroit, Michigan. His mother, Denverado, the daughter of an A.M.E. minister from Denver, Colorado, provided inspiration and direction despite the family's poverty.
