This release from LSU Press, Huey “Piano” Smith and the Rocking Pneumonia Blues by John Wirt, is an accounting of the 1950s and ‘60s rhythm and blues scene in New Orleans; rock and roll emerged from this period. The book is an entertaining read with research to evidence authenticity—chapter notes, extensive bibliography, general index, and song title index.

"The Roosevelts:" Watch a little, or watch a lot

They were a family that dominated early 20th century politics, occupying the halls of power in New York, the Navy and ultimately the White House – more than once. DIA showcases local craft beers, artistry

We're not sure if this label made the exhibit, but Left Hand Brewing is know for elaborate labels like this one for Oktoberfest Marzen Lager.

While you're in line to clear TSA security and cross the bridge to Denver International Airport's Concourse A, don't rush past the display cases.  The next exhibit there (September 20 through December 2014, and just in time for the Great American Beer Festival) is called "Colorado On Tap: The State of the Brew.  DIA's Art and Culture Program Manager Chris Stevens visited "First Take with Lando and Chavis" with the details.

Colorado's Eighth Poet Laureate: Joseph Hutchison

Blue Roots Denver: Colorado Blues and Jazz, Music and Lore

Four hour-long episodes of a locally-produced film program of Colorado Blues and Jazz artists recorded live in performance will screen over four Wednesday evenings at the McNichols Civic Center Building!  Each unique episode of Blue Roots Denver, co-produced by bandleader James Speiser and KUVO's Erik Troe, will be preceded by a live performance by one of the groups featured in  that week's film presentation.
