Annie Booth Trio

KUVO Studio Club: Annie Booth Trio | May 3

Apr 29, 2018

Enjoy swinging jazz with piano, acoustic upright bass and drums with the Annie Booth Trio in the Phyllis A. Greer Performance Studio on Thursday, May 3 at 11:15 am. Performing with the synergy and vibrancy that comes with a strong friendship and musical relationship that began in their teenage years, one thing is clear - Booth, McDevitt, and Castano love nothing more than playing music with one another.

The Trio: Annie Booth - piano, Patrick McDevitt - bass and Alejandro Castaño - drums

KUVO Jazz wraps up Jazz Appreciation Month with its Spring Membership Campaign, and you will be treated to even more LIVE music. Because, after all, Jazz is LIVE!

During this Spring Pledge Drive (Thursday, April 26 through Friday, May 4), we’ll spotlight recordings made in KUVO’s Phyllis A. Greer Performance Studio (from an archive of around 1,200 sessions!), and from Blue Note clubs around the world, jazz venues in the Northwest US, and past International Jazz Day recordings.

Jazz Speaks

When tenor saxophonist Ravi Coltrane performed at Dazzle in its old Lincoln Street location, the pianist in his quartet was Glenn Zaleski. The only other time I had heard the Massachusetts-born pianist live was when he appeared in Denver as part of the cooperative trio Stranahan/Zaleski/ Rosato. On Wednesday, the S/Z/R trio (that has two CDs out on the Denver Capri Records label), is back in town.

Dazzle Jazz

On Thursday, one of the modern-day giants of the tenor saxophone, Joe Lovano, wraps up is two-night stand at Dazzle, 930 Lincoln. For this visit to Denver, Lovano, who has issued more discs on the Blue Note label than any other artist, has his Classic Quartet with him. That band has an international cast of younger players with Leo Genovese on piano, Peter Slavov on bass and Lamy Istrefi on drums. It is on stage at 6:30 and 8:30 p.m. (303-839-5100).

Live at KUVO: Annie Booth Trio | Dec 20

Dec 6, 2016

The Annie Booth Trio, led by pianist-composer Annie Booth, embraces the jovial spirit of the holidays with their seasonal release entitled Festive!. The album reimagines nine Christmas favorites with an energetic, joyous twist. Listeners will enjoy the variety of familiar songs of the season - from the cheerful and swinging Santa Claus Is Coming To Town to the reflective beauty of Silent Night, to the infectious grooves of O Christmas Tree and the New Orleans-inspired party vibe of Auld Lang Syne.
