interview, clip with Michael Milligan

Broadway actor Michael Milligan is touring the country with his one-man play “Mercy Killers,” the saga of “Joe,” a blue collar business owner whose uninsured wife is diagnosed with cancer.   This American tale is intense, and the Colorado tour (through March 14th)  is sponsored by the Health Care for All Colorado Foundation.

Milligan says he wrote the play from his personal experience as an actor, were full medical coverage is rare.  “The experience (of going without health insurance) caught me completely by surprise,” said Milligan.  “And that’s the situation in this country.  People don’t think it will ever happen to them.”

“Mercy Killers” is playing in Denver, Frisco and Fort Collins through March 14.  Details are available at the website for the Health Care for All Colorado Foundation, www.HCACFoundation.org.

Music on this feature is by Volker Kriegel, “Rhythm-a-ning” from the CD Volker Kriegel: Lost Tapes and the title track from the Cannonball Adderley Quintet’s CD Mercy, Mercy, Mercy (Live from “The Club”)
