Jason Marsalis & the 21st Century Trad Band will be going on tour this month in support of their new release, “Melody Reimagined, Book 1”. This release coincides with the 20th anniversary of Basin Street Records, the record label that is releasing Marsalis’ new album. If you’re in the area, this is a fun show you will not want to miss!
JASON MARSALIS: Jason is the son of pianist and music educator Ellis Marsalis and his wife Dolores, and the youngest sibling of Wynton, Branford and Delfeayo. Together, the four brothers and their patriarch Ellis, comprise New Orleans venerable first family of jazz. With each passing year Jason Marsalis continues to grow and develop as both a composer and performer. The maturity and the command he possesses over his music is clearly evident to those who have heard or seen him.
WILL GOBLE: Will Goble is steadily carving out a unique space for himself as a bassist and bandleader. Driven by a genuine love for group interaction and a positive exchange with audiences, he leads his own bands and supports other musicians with equal energy and enthusiasm. Will has performed with Marcus Roberts, Jason Marsalis, Wessell Anderson, Lew Soloff, Mike Kocour, Eric Reed, Marcus Printup, Richard Johnson, Martin Bejerano, Vincent Gardner, Eric Rasmussen, and Marcus and Joan Belgrave, among others.
DAVID POTTER: Drummer and percussionist, Dave Potter is quickly becoming known as a formidable musician. He has performed with many well-known jazz artists and recorded 3 albums with Jason Marsalis as well as the soundtrack to a short film with bassist Delbert Felix.
AUSTIN JOHNSON: Austin currently resides in New Orleans, Louisiana, where he is on scholarship at the University of New Orleans studying with Victor "Red" Atkins. Prior to arriving to Louisiana, he performed professionally throughout North Carolina as a freelance musician with various local artists and was featured in the Steve Hobbs Quartet.
