Access Denied: Discrimination in 2014
Believe or not, there is still housing discrimination in 2014.
In this interview, Christina Miranda, Fair Housing Specialist from the Denver Metro Fair Housing Center, shared the results of a recent investigation, "Access Denied: A Report on Rental Housing Discrimination in the Denver Metro Area."
The DMFHC documented discrimination against Latinos (91 percent of the time) and African-Americans (67%), and also against people with children (73%). Offenders can face federal lawsuits.
Those with discrimination questions or complaints can reach the Denver Metro Fair Housing Center online at www.dmfhc.org, or by calling 720-279-4291.
Music at the end of the feature by Harold Vick & Orchestra, "Whisper Not," from the CD Watch What Happens.
