In the Studio

The Freddy Rodriguez Quartet will perform in the Phyllis A. Greer Performance Studio on Thursday, 2/11 from 4 to 5pm for a little pre-celebration before the big party at El Chapultepec at 9pm. Featuring: Freddy Rodriguez Sr.-Saxophone, Freddy Rodriguez Jr.- piano, Andrew Hudson-bass, and Tony Black-drums.

 

Freddy Rodriguez turned 85 yesterday and there will be a birthday celebration at the Pec Thursday evening.

 

The band will also be performing at Dazzle for the lunch club this Friday, 2/12 at starting at 11am, and the second Friday of every month.

Gumbo Le Funque will be in our performance studio to celebrate Fat Tuesday! Their muscular groove pays homage to the melting pot sounds of the Big Easy, fusing American musical roots with the energy of the 21st century. Colorado band influenced by the entire tradition of the second line and traditional jazz, Maceo Parker, Galactic, Dr. John, Professor Longhair, The Funky Meters, as well as by the power funk that oozes forth from New Orleans.

The professional musicians in the Falconaires Jazz Ensemble follow in a long blue line of talented Air Force Academy bandsmen who are dedicated to serving our great nation and representing the young men and women at the academy training to be officers of character that will lead our Air Force. USAF Academy Band plays a major role in cultivating our national heritage through America's only indigenous musical genre, jazz!

Jazz drummer Dru Heller will perform with his quintet live in the Phyllis A Greer Performance Studio January 15 from 5 to 5:30 PM. 

The quintet will perform music by the late, great trumpeter Kenny Wheeler as well as original music by Heller.
