Who's welcome at the NCIPA Pow-wow? You are

The notion that Pow-wows are only for Native Americans would be like saying rodeos are just for cowboys.  For more than two decades the Northern Colorado Intertribal Pow-wow Association has struggled to overcome a number of misconceptions about this celebratory and reverent event. Joie Dennis’ Fort Collins living room is lined with Native American artwork and artifacts.

Over A Lifetime, Art Is Where You Make It. Even A Hotel Lobby

Longtime Denver artist Jess DuBois has created an ad-hoc studio in the lobby of the Ramada Inn on East Colfax in Denver.  A charcoal pencil, an easel, and few clip lights. DuBois is in that lobby thanks to a burst water pipe. That and a subsequent mold problem pushed him out of his longtime studio in Denver’s historic Five Points neighborhood.

Art at 1,500 feet in the air: nature photographer Evan Anderman

Evan Anderman is the son of a geologist, and growing up he observed the Rocky Mountain landscape with a different understanding than most. Years later, as an aerial photographer he still sees it differently – from thousands of feet in the air. KUVO arts reporter Carrie Saldo took to the skies with Anderman as he searched for a more subjective beauty in Colorado.
