Nancy Lewis is the past President and a current Trustee of the Garden of the Gods Foundation and the Garden of the Gods Visitor and Nature Center. She is also a long time advisor and Trustee for the Lyda Hill Foundation in Dallas, Texas.
Lewis is the retired Director of the Colorado Springs Parks and Recreation Department, where she served the city for 27 years. She has recently published a book, The Parks of Colorado Springs – Building Community, Preserving a Legacy, and there is a municipal park in Colorado Springs that bears her name.
Lewis is past Chair of the Penrose/St. Francis Health Services Foundation, and has served as a Trustee of the Penrose St. Francis Hospital Board for the past nine years. She serves as a Chancellor’s Ambassador for the University of Colorado at Colorado Springs, and received the 2012 Alumni and Friends Award from the University of Colorado and the Distinguished Service Award from the University of Colorado Board of Regents.
She is a past Chair of the Greater Colorado Springs Chamber of Commerce and a past Chair of Experience Colorado Springs (Convention and Visitors Bureau). Lewis was also appointed by the Governor of Colorado to the Tourism Board.
Among numerous other personal recognitions, Lewis has been honored as a community Trustee by Leadership Pikes Peak, Colorado Business Journal Women of Influence, and has received the prestigious of Athena Award.
