Geoff Anderson

Host, Tuesday's Night Beat and Co-Host All Blues

Geoff Anderson has reached the 25-year mark as a KUVO/KVJZ volunteer. For almost all that time he has been on the air Tuesday evenings. Geoff started in public radio in 1976 at KCSU in Fort Collins. After taking a time out from radio to attend law school and start a legal career, Geoff dove back into jazz radio by volunteering at the then fairly new KUVO in 1988.

Geoff is a fan of many types of music and attends concerts around town on a regular basis. He writes reviews of most of the shows, many of which are posted on kuvo.org and allaboutjazz.com. Working in radio in the '70s, and being a music junkie in general during that time, resulted in an extensive record collection that he has kept intact to this day. That provides the material for Geoff's weekly feature, "The Vinyl Vault," heard every Tuesday at 8:30. Geoff picks a record from his collection that isn't in the KUVO library to share with his listeners.

Geoff occasionally fills in on All Blues, heard Saturday evenings from 5 to 7. In his spare time he is a real estate attorney at Sweetbaum, Levin & Sands, PC.

Performance Review: Gov't Mule & John Scofield at Ogden Theater | Feb. 24, 2015

A jazz guy plays with a heavy rock band? That would be the superficial description of Sco-Mule. A deeper examination shows that John Scofield and Gov’t Mule’s Warren Haynes are twin brothers of different mothers. Each possesses a yearning, restless soul, constantly seeking new musical forms and combinations. Each is fearless behind his guitar. And each is possessed of a virtuoso talent and, seemingly, can do whatever he wants.

Vinyl Vault: Albert King

We’ll have some blues this week on the Vinyl Vault with Albert King. We’ll hear a few tracks from King’s 1992 release on the Tomato label, “King Albert.” It’s a high production number, but King’s gritty vocals and searing guitar work are all prominently featured. The Vinyl Vault: tonight at 8:30 on KUVO 89.3 FM, KVJZ 88.5 FM and kuvo.org.
