Brazilian Carnaval at the Mercury Cafe

Saturday, March 15 is the day to celebrate Brazilian Carnaval at the Mercury Cafe. This is an evening full of Brazilian music, dancing and food! The director of the Bateria, Carl Dixon, and the founder of Samba Colorado, Kebrina de Jesus will be hosting several 1 hour drumming and dancing workshop beginning at 1pm.

(Once I Had a) Secret Love

This week on First Take with Lando and Chavis, Carlos is featuring the Paul Francis Webster and Sammy Fain tune (Once I Had a) Secret Love. The song was originally written for the movie "Calamity Jane", starring Doris Day. Webster and Fain were awarded the Academy Award for Best Original Song in 1953. When Day recorded the song, her version attained the #1 position on both the Billboard and Cash Box charts in 1954. Later, Slim Whitman reached #2 on the charts with his recording of Secret Love.
