Weekday mornings from 6 to 9am, Carlos Lando and Steve Chavis bring you Community, Culture and Music on First Take with Lando and Chavis. A blend of music, news and community-oriented programming, tuning in to First Take is the right way to start your day. Lando's "Stories of Standards" feature examines a jazz standard or a tune from the Great American Songbook each week. Stories of composers, lyricists, performers, and songs. On Wednesdays, Steve hosts Eats and Beats, a segment related to food, restaurants, chefs and all things gastronomic. Tune in!

Eats & Beats: 5280 Mag's "25 Best Restaurants"

The premise: fine dining is out.  Casual dining is in.  But 5280 Magazine's food editor Amanda Faison compiled a list of the "25 Best Restaurants" in the metro Denver area.  She shared her opinion (and some tasty tips) on "First Take with Lando and Chavis."

"I wouldn't say (fine dining) is over.  I would say it's shifting," said Faison.   "It's the same quality as a fine dining restaurant, but it's in a more casual environment."

Cancion Mexicana's Debra & Yolanda: Chicano Music Hall of Fame!

KUVO Radio's flagship weekend program "Cancion Mexicana," heard on Sundays from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., has among its roster of hosts two new members of Su Teatro's Chicano Music Hall of Fame, Debra Gallegos and Yolanda Ortega.  The hosts / singers / actors / activists joined Carlos and Steve on "First Take" to review their careers (so far).

"How many of us get to be the hero among our peers," said Ortega, who has been singing and acting with Debra Gallegos for 40 years.

Inaugural CineLatino Film Festival opens in Denver

The inaugural CineLatino Film Festival in Denver features a four-day cultural celebration of Latino Cinema. With 12 titles showing September 25 - 28, 2014, the festival offers a mix of feature and documentary films, along with new and repertory titles.  Festival director Ernie Quiroz visited "First Take with Lando and Chavis" to preview the screenings.
