In addition to jazz clubs and music schools, acclaimed young pianist Emmet Cohen included KUVO in his Colorado tour.  Here's a segment of his performance interview on "Lunchtime at the Oasis" with host Arturo Gomez.

While in Colorado Cohen held classes at Colorado State University and the University of Northern Colorado. "The Way I've learned to teach is to show my love for it and show the joy it can bring me; and the uplifting it can bring to people of all kinds, old people, young people, children or people of different countries."

Saturday Morning Jazz with Ed Danielson

Sep 12, 2016

The Mayor of the Oasis will be with you  bright and early on Saturday mornings --- every week.

Many years ago, Ed played jazz records on a long-gone Denver radio station and was station manager of his college radio station back in the 1960s.

“For some inexplicable reason, when I was a little kid, my straight-laced Swedish Baptist grandmother had an old '78 of ‘Royal Garden Blues’ by the Original Dixieland Jazz Band, and I’ve been a jazz fan ever since I heard that,” Ed said.

The High School / Collegiate Series returns to KUVO's Phyllis A. Greer Perfomance Studio with Soul Confluence of Soundhouse under the direction of Stephen Holley – September 13 - 7pm.

Featured Students: Sofia Arnold - vocals, Beau Hanson - guitar, Ketan Mandava - bass, Nic Kubes - drums, Emmett Stinson - alto/tenor, Steve Holley - trumpet, Sam Tracey – bari-sax, and Eddie Rogers - trombone.

Arizona-based guitar great Stanley Jordan is visiting our fair state this week, performing solo at the Oriental Theater tonight and a free trio set tomorrow at the Dillon Amphitheater in Summit County. Stanley sat down with Jazz Caravan host Erik Troe yesterday and discussed his studies in the field of musical therapy and how it has evolved his relationship with Jazz music.

Cafe Brazil Chef Tony Zarlenga visited Eats & Beats to share one of their signature dishes: cold smoked blackened sakura pork tenderloin, sliced mid to mid-rare, with a sweet hot strawberry rhubarb glaze.

This dish features heritage breed pork from Iowa.

"Starting with quality ingredients is really is half the battle," said Tony.

In it's 25th year, Cafe Brazil brings passion to its contemporary South American dishes.
