Longmont High School

As part of the station's High School/Collegiate Series, KUVO is proud to welcome Longmont High School's advanced jazz ensemble - "The Rhythmaires"- for an in-studio performance May 12 from 7 to 8 PM MT.

These students are mastering diverse jazz styles, from Dixieland to today’s modern jazz. This jazz ensemble also emphasizes exploring the art of improvisation and performance.

Rico Jones

Up-and-coming Denver tenor saxophonist Rico Jones will be performing live at KUVO with his quartet May 7 from 5 to 6 PM MT.

Your gift ensures we can continue supporting local musicians, pledge here.

Rico will be accompanied by Alex Heffron on guitar, Joey Pearlman on bass, and Kevin Matthews on drums.

A 17-year old junior at Denver School of the Arts, Rico was one of 32 high school students selected nationwide for 2015 Grammy Camp.

This month on the High School Collegiate series we air a pre-recorded program from the very near past: We're proud to present a broadcast with a Latin Jazz group from the Kent Denver School, the Azucartones , under the direction of Stephen Holley.  These young players recently absorbed the authentic sounds of Old Havana while studying in Cuba, and know their way around hot Caribbean rhythms.  Tune in and witness for yourself with your host Geoff Anderson this Tuesday, July 8th at 7:00 PM.

Our thanks to the following sponsors of the High School Collegiate Series:
