Music Director and Host of Lunchtime at the Oasis

Arturo has been part of "The Oasis in the City" since the spring of 2003. Before that, he was part of Miami's jazz station for 13 years. Arturo was fortunate to have been raised listening to the progressive radio stations of Los Angeles, instilling in him a love and knowledge of many music styles while his parents hosted many Cuban music dance parties at home. Arturo is an award-winning Music Director: he's been awarded the Music Director of the Year honors for 3 consecutive years while at KUVO/KVJZ and once before in Miami. Arturo brings an enthusiastic and passionate approach to his music programs, coupled with pertinent information in the traditions of classic jazz radio. Arturo proudly states, "Jazz is my favorite 4-letter word and the world's greatest art form".

New Music Monday: First Edition of February

We start off the shortest month with a strong Colorado connection. The gifted alto saxophonist Charles McPherson most recent recording session took place here in Denver accompanied by the Front Range's finest players for the Bailey based Capri Records. Mr. McPherson's sidemen are Keith Oxman-tenor, Chip Stephens-piano, Ken Walker-bass, Todd Reid-drums.  The Journey  has a varied song list, standards,  McPherson  originals and even contributions by Oxman and Stephens.

New Music Monday: Last Call for January

We close out January with a diverse line up of new releases for your listening delight.

First up is the posthumous released CD by one of the all time great jazz flutists, Sam Most who passed away about 18 months ago.  Mr. Most's New Jazz Standards on Summit Records s a collection of a dozen tunes all written by the noted trumpeter Carl Saunders. In addition to flute, Sam is heard on clarinet, baritone sax and he throws in some scatting as well.
