A community that matters! Jazz and blues is so much more than just music..this is a music community...its a unique, vital, and powerful art. And the power of jazz and all of the shows you hear on Saturday is reflected in the power of friends like you. We hope you enjoy today's Duet Saturday. We do need your love in form of a pledge, a gift to sustain the incredible music you enjoy on KUVO.

Experience a stellar evening of authentic Blues at Baur’s featuring harmonica master Phil Wiggins with guitarist George Kilby Jr on Saturday, Feburary 20 at 9pm at Baur's Listening Lounge. Jointly presented by Colorado Blues Society and Music Appreciation Society, this acoustic performance by the Wiggins & Kilby Blues Trio will be a concert to treasure as these revered players deliver the down-to-earth lyrics of modern day Country Blues along with traditional tunes.

On the Sunday afternoon after Thanksgiving Day, there will be a homage to the late Jimmy Trujillo at Jazz@Jacks on the upper level of the Denver Pavilions on the 16th Street Mall, Downtown Denver, Sunday, November 30th.  It starts at 1 pm and will conclude at 5 pm with many musicians playing to honor Jimmy's musical contributions to Denver.

The Blues are all about the stories, and there are many stories out there about the women and men who create this music.  Edward Komara, former Blues archivist of the University of Mississippi, and his successor Greg Johnson pulled together perhaps the definitive bibliography of books about the blues in their new release,  100 Books Every Blues Fan Should Own (Rowman & Littlefield, 2014).  We reached Ed Komara at his current post as the Crane Librarian of Music at the State University of New York at Potsdam.
