Arturo has been part of "The Oasis in the City" since the spring of 2003. Before that, Arturo was part of Miami's jazz station for 13 years.

Arturo was fortunate to have been raised listening to the progressive radio stations of Los Angeles, instilling in him a love and knowledge of many music styles while his parents hosted many a Cuban music dance party during his growing up years.

An award-winning Music Director, Arturo was awarded Music Director of the Year for three consecutive years while at KUVO/KVJZ and once before in Miami.

Arturo brings an enthusiastic and passionate approach to music programs, coupled with pertinent information in the traditions of classic jazz radio. Arturo proudly states, "Jazz is my favorite four-letter word and the world's greatest art form."

Moreover, musicians from other areas of the nation comment on the comradery of our musicians, a not so common occurrence. Eldar Music

For his 10th recording as a leader, the seasoned  pianist Eldar (Djangirov) releases his first live album, World Tour.  Eldar, originally from Kyrgyzstan,  made his initial recording back in 2001 when he was only 14 years old.  New Orleans based B-3 player Charlie Dennard returns with his newest outing,5 O'Clock Charlie.

In advance of an upcoming benefit performance for the Urban Spectrum Youth Foundation, Denver jazz and blues singer Hazel Miller visited "Lunchtime at the Oasis" recently.

The performance is called "Up Close and Personal wth Hazel Miller," Sunday, June 14, 2:00 - 5:00 p.m. at Jazz at Jack's, 500 16th St. (Third Floor), Denver, Colo. 80202.

As we head to the finish of another spring in order to begin summer, we are pleased to debut and share this week's crop of new releases well-suited to be added to your summer's playlist!

We raise the curtain to June with the return of Spring and some new releases that swing. Ku-umba Frank Lacy & the Mingus Big Band release Mingus Sings with the approval of the widow Mingus, Sue. For this outing, Franks leaves his trombone in its case and sings the songs of Mingus, with lyrics penned by Charles Mingus, Elvis Costello, Langston Hughes, Joni Mitchell, Sue Mingus and others to the superlative all star laden  Mingus Big Band.
