KUVO Live Broadcast at Tony P's | April 18

KUVO is broadcasting live from Tony P's Bar & Pizzeria on 17th Avenue April 18 from 10 pm to midnight.

Vocalist and percussionist Linda Theus-Lee will be performing live with her five-piece band.

Theus-Lee's musical creativity lives in vocal jazz, blues, musical theater and R&B. In addition, she is a talented percussionist and composes songs on guitar.

Kempe Foundation marks 30 years against child abuse

More than 10,000 children were abused or neglected in Colorado in 2013, according to the Kempe Foundation for the Prevention and Treatment of Child Abuse and Neglect.  John Faught, president of the Foundation visited "First Take with Lando and Chavis" to update the KUVO audience during National Child Abuse Prevention Month.

Ann Ronell's “Willow Weep For Me” | Stories of Standards

Composed by Ann Ronell “Willow Weep for Me” was introduced by vocalist and whistler Muzzy Marcellino performing with Ted Fio Rito and His Orchestra in 1932. Their Brunswick recording entered the pop charts December 3, 1932, and rose to number 17.

Later in 1932,  Paul Whiteman and His Orchestra’s Victor recording with singer Irene Taylor topped the charts at number two.  More than 30 years later in 1964, “Willow Weep for Me” reemerged on the pop charts thanks to British duo Chad and Jeremy.

New Music Monday: The Joys of Spring

Spring is the time of renewal and when it comes to music,  it is the time for a continuous stream of fine new releases in a wide variety of music styles. We'll begin with a new recording with Colorado connections despite it being led by UK drummer, Allan Finney who is fresh off a stint at Dazzle's with B-3 player Tony Monaco. Allan who has played the Vail Jazz Party in the past teams up with some Front Range cats for Cool featuring Eric Gunnison on piano/keys, Mark Simon playing bass, Bob Rebholz on flute/sax, and Bill Kopper on guitar.
